Porting Grammaticus Maximus to WebGL / browserversion
Hi all,
I've been working on Grammaticus Maximus as an educational mobile game for Android and iOS on and off for more than 2 years. I'm very happy with the downloads (over 25.000 now) and feedback from Latin teachers and students worldwide so far.
This year the government in my country (The Netherlands) banned usage of mobile phones in high school classrooms, trying to improve focus and reduce distractions at school. While I as a teacher support this move (the upsides by far outweigh the downsides and a full-on ban makes it easy to implement as well), it's a bit of a bummer for me as an educational game developer, since my game was often used in classrooms, more than not on students own mobile devices.
So I'm currently porting the game to a browser based version that can be played anytime on any browser equipped device. Most importantly: laptops and computers used at schools. This provides a new way for teachers to use my game in their classrooms.
The game is developed in Unity and therefore has built-in WebGL support. But of course things never are that straightforward. I'm currently ironing out some small issues with the web version, but I expect to publish the first fully working version in a few days.
Here's hoping this makes even more people enjoy my game and improve their Latin studies with it in a fun way.
Cheers,
Jochum - Magister Ludorum
